Target was founded in 1902 by George Dayton in Minnesota under a different name of Dayton Company. In 1962, the first Target store opened. Target sells general merchandise and food products at a discounted price, and they also provide services like a pharmacy and photo center. For 2008, Target recorded revenues at around $63 million, a 6.5% increase from 2007's numbers. Currently, Gregg W. Steinhafel is the Chief Executive Officer and President of Target Corp. Target's motto is Expect More. Pay Less. and they plan on sticking with that. They have a strong market but the increasing competition of other stores like Wal-Mart is one weakness they will have to worry about.
